Milwaukee studio Vetter Denk Architects designed this eye-catching prefab on the banks of Moose Lake, Wisconsin, as a weekend retreat.

The 301-square-foot cabin is situated on 99 acres on Bruny Island, an island off the coast of Tasmania. Lacroix Chessex Architectes realized La Maison aux Jeurs, a cabin in Les Jeurs, Switzerland situated on a rocky hill above the road. By realizing the extension partly underground, the architects maintained the view to the monumental farm. There are also views of the landscape and the lake from every meeting room.
"We didn't realize the exterior was straight-grain redwood," says Craig Bassam of the house he shares with Scott Fellows. "It was covered in layers of gray paint." Bassam replaced the terrace's concrete pavers with bluestone and removed a concrete-block wall.
