The Swedish design duo draws from a rich Scandinavian tradition of simple, powerful graphics in this poster inspired by the art of small talk.

I was lucky enough to catch a performance of Don Quixote starring the incredible Sonia Rodriguez. Before the show there was a "ballet talk" that not only helped explain elements of the ballet but highlighted the wonderful design of the center. Instead of just providing circulation, the network of bridges, stars, and spans in the foyer also take on other functions, such as an auditorium that can be used for purposes such as talks and lectures. It's quite a brilliant use of space.
One of the most talked-about events was the temporary, invitation-only exhibit 20 Designers at Biologiska, at the Biologika Museet (Biological Museum). Located inside a circa-1893 structure on Djurgården, the museum is basically a two-story cylindrical diorama that holds a collection of stuffed wildlife. Curated by Fredrik Färg, Emma Marga Blanche and Hanna Nova Beatrice, the exhibition is "about evolution, diversity, and universality, where contemporary design, art and light is housed in an unexpected context."
Glaser designed this poster as an introduction to Alan Heller's line of plastic, pasta-shaped pillows. The only clue that we are not talking about edible pasta is the measurement indicating that it is 60cm wide—mouthful even for ravioli lovers.
Inside the Boxhome, colors are muted, light remains local, and the dark-stained woods stand out against lighter grains. When residents and guests gather, the Boxhome's kitchen takes on a new role, bringing everyone to the table to talk.
One-on-one fitness instruction plays a significant role in motivating seniors to stay in shape. A talking robot dubbed Bandit encourages a person seated in front of it to engage in customized exercises, ranging from easy to challenging. Although still in the research and testing stages, the robot is capable of leading a person through a series of arm movements or imitating arm movements modeled by the person. It’s one of six socially assistive robots, or SARs, being developed by the Interaction Lab of theViterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. For more information, see Interaction Lab.
Moskow and Linn each head to the Swamp Hut with their families about once a month. "Most of the time is spent on the deck: cooking, talking, tending the fire, and trying not to burn the place," Linn says.
"It was interesting looking at the Betel Nut stores from the perspective of my relatives in Taiwan and people of higher economic class who perhaps see the girls as in some ways exploited. But talking to the girls minds began to change."
Inside the main theater space was this massive bridge suspended by a red curtain and resting on a wall that divides the audience from the stage. But as the structure is unfinished, no stage exists. I talked with curator Nadim Samman and as he put it "What artist could resist a theater without a stage?"
Community involvement was a key part of the design competition. Charrettes were held in the city of Saint-Marc where residents talked with designers about their ideal house and how current housing affected their health.
