Bull Head in White Gold Leaf A new piece that’s exclusive to A&G, these custom-made papier-mache heads provide a handmade touch and dramatic impact on a wall, and are light enough to hang with a single nail.

One of Rose's favorite signs belongs to the Indianhead Motel in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. "The colorful headdress on this one—repainted as recently as 2008—is even more stunning in person," he says. "Thanks to help from the local historical society, I was able to trace its origins back to 1958 when a man named Ernest Cote first opened the motel."

Smart shower heads In addition to the toilet, the shower is often a source of water loss in the bathroom. The Aero Rain Shower by TOTO, pictured, uses Aero-Jet technology, which infuses air into the water stream. This creates voluminous water droplets that contain less water than normal drops.

Brooklyn-based design duo Stefanie Brechbuehler and Robert Highsmith render cast iron, steel and brass into the handsome Workstead Floor Lamp. Defined by a crane-like profile, it at once reaches out and sits steadily waiting. The adjustable arm can be positioned as a reading lamp or a spotlight.

Even our restless adventurer needs a place to lay his head.

A masonry head house on the site, designed in 1908 by architect Cass Gilbert, has not been in use for over 80 years. SLO will connect the structure to the waterfront by constructing a steel bridge over the active Amtrak tracks.

Head in the Clouds Pavilion New York City StudioKCA's Head in the Clouds Pavilion on New York's Governors Island comes out of the desire to create a "place to dream in the city of dreams." Made from 53,780 recycled plastic bottles (the amount, thrown away in New York City in 1 hour) it is a space where visitors can enter into and contemplate the light and color filtering through the 'cloud' from the inside, out. Kudu head Designed by: Joanna Orr What do you get for the trophy hunter who already has an elephant foot coffee table, trophy heads aplenty, and skins everywhere? Joanna Orr, a vegetarian, decided to make her friend a kudu head constructed with interlocking pieces of Xanita, a recycled corrugated cardboard. Several species are now available, though some of them are in leather, leaving you to decide which material is most ironic. More info: headondesign.co.za

Resident Richard Kim, who works as the head of design at electric car company Faraday Future, tested his know-how with the creation of his own Los Angeles home, a curvilinear structure clad in Cor-Ten steel and black-stained cedar.

Torontonians Dan and Diane Molenaar head north to Drag Lake when they need a weekend away from urban life—though they brought some of the city with them. The mirrored windows that circle the cottage were recycled from two office towers in Toronto.
