Because their loft is a rental, David and Im Schafer built everything to be removable.

Everything—and I mean everything—is for sale on the streets of India. And like everything else, the wares are always colorful, like these books.

The showcase of Norwegian design talent continues at WantedDesign. In the "Calm, Cool, Collected" exhibition, catch new works by Everything Elevated (pictured), Anderssen & Voll, Lars Beller Fjetland, and more.

The millwork hides the bed and desk, but it also conceals the air conditioner. “Everything is integrated,” says Losada-Amor. “That’s what keeps it clean.” Even the garage door mechanism is hidden here.

Of the offerings at L.A. Creamery, including ice cream, sundaes, malts, shakes and organic baked goods, co-owner and executive chef Jessica Goryl says “everything is about as natural as you can get, and everything is made from scratch—no weird chemicals.” She makes one gallon at a time using organic milk from Straus Family Creamery in Tomales Bay, California.

Cheng kept the dining room chandelier and the original fireplace, and gutted most everything else, careful to keep changes in the spirit of the home’s quiet character. "It's an unassuming structure with jaw-dropping, 180-degree views once you walk in the door," says the designer.

Douglas and Derek’s shared taste is on display in the dining area, with its mix of timber, steel, and slate. “Everything was selected to exude warmth and tactility and to offer splashes of color,” Douglas says. The solid oak table is also by Mudge, and the chairs are from South African furniture company Houtlander.

“We wanted it to be a restful environment,” says interior designer Ashley Sanford. “Everything has a matte finish so that your eye slides across everything. There aren’t harsh elements that distract.”
