Federal Hook by Isabella Furniture $225 Paul Isabella a Savannah College of Art and Design graduate, makes handcrafted, contemporary furniture from his Minne-apolis woodshop.

The Loop bike rack is a concept and prototype developed by the Federal, an Ottawa-based design consultancy founded by the industrial designers Ian Murchison and Rohan Thakar. (The name is a nod to their home base in Canada’s capital city.) The restored exterior of the building is a virtual match to the one shown in this photograph shot by Julius Shulman in 1960. Anodized aluminum solar screens slide and keep out the bright desert sun while allowing visibility to the street.

"Completed in 1971, the Weyerhaeuser Corporate Headquarters building in Federal Way, Washington — often called a "skyscraper on its side" — is composed of gently sloping landscaped terraces that step upward. At each level, deeply recessed windows run continuously along each side of the building, uninterrupted by wall surfaces or metal dividers. With lush vegetation spilling over the terrace walls, the building appears to merge with the surrounding environment. Weyerhaeuser Corporate Headquarters was the fourth SOM project to win The American Institute of Architects’s 25-Year Award when it was recognized in 2001."

The Rolex Learning Center at the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne by SANNA Architects is due to be completed this September.

The porch was legalized and rebuilt with cast-iron columns, railings, and stone flooring in keeping within a refined, Federal-style aesthetic.

As in the Fairview, the Federal incorporates a few “IKEA hacks” such as the Ikea kitchen cabinets combined with modern front and cover panels by Reform. The faucet is by California Faucets.

The Federal Bungalow is centrally located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Montauk and is a five-minute drive to the popular beach Ditch Plains. The door hardware is by Emtek and the house numbers are by Heath Ceramics.

Federal-style architecture dominates much of Washington, particularly the city’s monumental core. The Ronald Reagan Building is one such example.

Because the unit was temporary, it didn't follow the typical permitting process of a micro-unit or home in New York City; what's more, because it was installed on land owned by the United Nations, local and federal codes and permits did not apply.

Myers brightened up the bathroom with an assortment of tiles and a floating wood vanity. Cle Tile's farmhouse brick wall tiles line the tub, backsplash, and shower. The floor is a fresh and random mix of 8" square solid cement floor tile in Federal Blue, Ash, and Curry.

Some real estate factoids: 1) Condominiums, long popular overseas, got their U.S. start in Puerto Rico in 1958. The Federal Housing Administration didn’t recognize condo ownership until 1961. 2) In California, the Mills Act provides tax relief to homeowners who preserve their historic architecture. Similar tax rebate and abatement programs exist in other states.

Minnesota congressperson Ilhan Omar thinks the federal government should guarantee a place to live for every American.

Titled "Making Federal Buildings Beautiful Again," the draft criticizes brutalism, deconstructivism, and anything characterized as "modern."

The Chicago Federal Center is another example of the incredible architectural legacy that Mies van der Rohe left the city of Chicago. In his book Chicago: In and Around the Loop, Walking Tours of Architecture and History, Gerard Wolfe refers to the Federal Center as "the ultimate expression of the second Chicago school of architecture." Alexander Calder’s striking ‘Flamingo’ sculpture complements the linear complex.

Choreographed with the landscape in mind, each wing offers a distinct perspective of the federally protected freshwater wetland.

The property includes about an acre of woods and sits at the edge of federal parkland. “Looking out these windows, your view just extends forever,” says Eunnice. Beneath the bedrooms, a secondary living area serves as a poolhouse.

The buyers were attracted to the formality of the home design, as well as the solidness of the brick structure. The couple plans to preserve as much of the character of a 1930’s federal style home as possible.
