Upon entering the winery, visitors are met with a minimalist hall and an unobstructed route through the structure.

Entering the house by the front door (right), the first view one gets is of the color-shifting fiberglass light wall before turning left and entering the main living area, where the couple's dog Ruti likes to lounge. "Whenever possible, I like to open up views, not reveal everything at once, which is why I made a subtly entryway to the house," Robertson says. "It's nice to not walk right into a room but instead let things unfold as you move through the home."

After entering through a gate, the home's charred spruce siding presents a somber face.

The first thing visitors see as they enter the house is Bornstein’s impressive collection of architecture and design books. The sofa and chair were designed by Bornstein for Swedese.

The first thing that caught my eye entering the tent was Lotty Lindeman's Tassenkast collection of luggage.

Upon entering the house, one immediately sees right through to the rear garden from the main corridor.

After passing through the wooden opening, guests enter the home via a glass-encased hallway.

Entered from the south-facing rear, each cabin was designed to be as compact as possible with a footprint of roughly 320 square feet.

Entering the property by car, one first encounters the blank wall of the home's storage shed, evoking the Texas sheds and barns Redington loves.

After walking through the front door visitors enter directly into the enormous kitchen and living space. The interior is minimal, using predominantly timber and concrete. It also provides some spectacular views of the river.

From the street, the house appears as a simple, white structure with timber elements. It’s not until you enter that the lightness and porosity of the home becomes apparent.

An inner wall divides the main gate from the inner garden, enhancing privacy and creating narrative suspense as you enter.

The broad balcony on the lower level of Casa Dosmurs is sheltered by the overhang of the roof, which limits the amount of direct sunlight that enters the house on hot summer days.

Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors open to the great outdoors, and industrial-grade metal screens keep bugs from entering and provide protection for those standing up against windows.

To enter the installation, you walk through a curtain made of curling lengths of polarfleece, and glimpse the exterior wooden skeleton of the structure.

When you enter into the house, you find yourself in an open space that combines the living and dining room and is lined with floor-to-ceiling glass. The dining area is marked by the same aggregate concrete flooring that began in the front of the house.

Tombs are erected as monuments to those buried beneath them, but they can also be places for people to reflect more generally. In an isolated village cemetery towards the foothills of the Dolomites, Carlo Scarpa composed a mausoleum of such poetic proportions that it communes with all who enter it.

“The way it was designed by Harry Weese, which I believe was correct, the audience comes in and has to go up six to eight feet to enter—a theatrical space is much more dramatic when you enter from the top and the seats and stage unfold in front of you,” Thom observes. “I got rid of the steps and sloped the lobby about two degrees, so you can go into the old theaters without encountering stairs.”

The triangular theme is echoed in the covered walkway, inspired by Japanese rain gardens, that connects the home to the detached garage. "I just wanted to feel the serenity before entering the house," says Lexi. "It’s an opportunity to become present in the space before you even enter."
