Petite Dragon Table

Not to be confused with the Dragon Chair, a Gray piece sold at auction by Christie's in 2009 for 19.5 million, this small lacquered end table, once part of noted Parisian designer and collector Jacques Doucet's estate, is a bit of a mystery, the precise handiwork and fish scale patterns initially of unknown provenance.

The house and studio were christened "Dragon Rock" by their daughter Ann who said the rock formation resembled a dragon sipping from the pool. The pool was created by feeding a waterfall into to the pit. Seen here is a floating sculpture by current artist-in-resident Stephen Talasnik.

Shortly after Frank Lloyd Wright's death in 1959, apprentice Aaron Green presented Olgivanna Lloyd Wright with this bronze dragon, which was originally intended to be used as a water fountain. She had the apprentices perch the dragon on top of a stone steel outside of the Kiva and connect it to a gas line so it could breathe fire. The dragon continues to breathe fire on Night Lights tours at Taliesin West.
