A sexy new material takes the place of traditional siding.

Monika and Darren Bennett worked with SM Studio on their custom home in Vancouver, B.C. The main house has 2703 square feet, plus a 514 square foot garage/studio on the rear alley, with a courtyard and pool in between the two buildings.

The furniture and colors both separate and connect the playfully divided plan. Office S&M used these elements to frame views across the room and create an architectural dialogue between the inhabitants and the furniture “characters.”

“Lighting design is really important. There is something about valance lighting that creates a feeling of expansiveness. Not only is it beautiful and sexy, but it kind of tricks the mind into a feeling of more space,” says Latimer.

Larsson designed the backyard himself after some research into Straub's use of landscape design. "In our research, we found that Straub's landscape influence was a 'sexy' Japanese garden," he says.

In the bathroom, Thomas (who is also a muralist) painted Jean Cocteau-inspired nudes all over the walls. "I wanted it to feel sexy and elegant and gay and a bit silly,
