Milwaukee studio Vetter Denk Architects designed this eye-catching prefab on the banks of Moose Lake, Wisconsin, as a weekend retreat. The home was based on an idea presented by the home's owner, who was inspired by a screw-top jug of $9.99 red wine.

Custom 8ft metal double sided mirrored French doors amplify the gorgeous views, expand the sense of space and provide privacy from main living area.

Inspired by sailor’s knots and the skies of the American west, this quilt is a collaboration between Oklahoman and expert quilter Meg Callahan and New York design store Hawkins. Titled Sailor's Knot Handmade Quilt, it comes in three colors (blue, gray, and red, which is seen here) and is an impressive 8ft by 8 ft.

Original details include warm mahogany paneling and period-specific VCT tile throughout.

The master bedroom is black with 9ft mahogany doors to master bath. These rooms have hand carved wooden cornice work showing the 2nd Empire craftsmanship. A custom build close form floor to ceiling is missing from the photo. Original pine floors and an abundance of light from the many windows in the room.

Primary bathroom with 9ft. custom cabinetry vanity, lighted mirrors, and "Galactic" pendants. We removed a sink in a closet in order to make this bathroom larger and more fitting for a primary bathroom.

All of the home's signature windows and doors are still intact, as is the rich original Birch paneling and post-and-beam construction. An atypical VCT tile lines the interior flooring.

Hydroponic greenhouse consists of 888 sq ft built between two containers and raised on recycled catwalks. It will have over 1500 grow sites, including flood/drain, Dutch buckets and NFT systems.

With 9ft ceilings included throughout the home, every room feels spacious, especially the living area. The sense of space is further enhanced by the bright colour scheme and large picture windows that have been ideally positioned to face north. Sliding doors open out onto the decking and alfresco from both the living and dining zones, which creates a nice flow between the indoors and out.

The kitchen cabinets where the Scommegnas store their dishes are open, creating what Vetter calls a “nonfussy, more direct approach to the storage of your daily items.” Scommegna allows that a pair of doors easily could have been added without much trouble. “But then you’ve got to open it every time you need something,” he says. “It’s just dumb. What are you hiding? They’re just plates.”
