Plenty of CES attention was devoted to LG's new "ultra premium" appliance line, Signature, but the company also unveiled an upgrade to Styler, a wardrobe-like, steam-based clothes management system that removes oder and wrinkles without using harmful chemicals. The new, larger model can clean six garments in as little as 20 minutes.

Measuring 1,116 square feet, the residence is flooded with natural light. The original stone wall becomes an alluring focal point upon entry, complemented by the home's light hardwoods.

A small dining space and kitchen area blend into the expansive wood paneling used throughout The Barn.

Not only does LG's new Twin Wash System allow for the simultaneous washing of two separate loads (the mini-washer is suited for delicates that require unique wash settings), it also allows users to download preprogrammed wash cycles to a smartphone and activate them by simply tapping their phone to a sensor on the appliance.

David Mazza, 30, and Casey Patten, 28, best friends since middle school, opened Taylor Gourmet, a Philadelphia-style deli and gourmet Italian market, at the end of 2008, in the ground floor of a three-story brick building at 1116 H Street NE. In the salad days before the ’68 riots, 1116 had housed a bakery, but since then it has played home to a hair salon, a crack house, and, for a time, just the rats and pigeons.

The entryway leads into the living room, and a low wall hides the staircase that leads to the lower level from view.

This living/bedroom space showcases neutral tones and shades of white to contrast the continued use of natural, treated wood surfaces.
