The Bigelows were very involved in the design process, having studied up on LEED before even approaching Butler Armsden with rough sketches. The stairway was one such detail of the project that the homeowners had a clear vision for: light wood to match the rest of the interior, deep treads, and a gradual rise to help with accessibility. Across the breezeway, a Flexform chaise, woven chair, and coffee table stand atop Forest Stewardship Council-certified hardwood floors.

Vila D’Acosta-Calheiros hung a space-saving wall shelf in the library. The table is by Eero Saarinen; the Tolomeo lamp is by Michele de Lucchi for Artemide. The red beanbag-like Sacco chair is by Zanotta, as is the Sciangai coatrack in the hall, beyond.

In the living area of Daniel Rozensztroch’s Paris apartment, an Eames La Chaise and a butterfly chair complement a Moroccan Berber rug.

The Circular Chain Chandelier is made from over 100 meters of chain, with a salvaged copper ships' lamp in the center.

In this glass-enclosed master bedroom, a LC4 armchair faces the master bed. The moveable frame adjusts along the base, allowing the sitter to switch from upright to full recline, or lounge at a number of other sitting angles.

The Alizé Sunlounger XS from Fermob combines a traditional design with functional advances. The fabric of the lounger is an outdoor technical fabric, making it extremely durable and resistant to weather damage. The canvas is also comfortable to the touch, so the Alizé can be used without a cushion or covering. The gently curved frame and bed add a sense of lightness to the Alizé, making this design from Fermob a refreshing option for outdoor spaces.

Pirogue Chaise This sculptural day bed -- a transportive, buoyant piece referencing the canoes of the South Pacific -- was one of many standout pieces Gray created as part of a commission by the esteemd Madame Levy, who asked Gray to design her Rue de Lota apartment.

Primavera wood and palm comprise this sinuous woven lounge designed by Michael van Beuren, Klaus Grabe, and Morley Webb in 1950.

The Chain shelving system by Nendo for Hem takes customizable home storage to the next level, allowing users to build elaborate box "chains" using specially designed connectors.

The old barn's foundation, re-stacked by a local stonemason, was reused as a rustic retaining wall for the pool area. The property also came with a corn crib and blacksmith shop as old as the barn, seen behind the pool, which are both used for storage now. St. Tropez chaises from Kingsley-Bate line the pool.
