The formal dining room, accessible from the kitchen through a set of walnut doors, features an original stone fireplace that dates to the 13th century.

The inspiration for this prefabricated, modular family home on Fishers Island, New York, were the views that Tanney and Luntz saw from a 12-foot stepladder, which was balancing on the bed of a pickup truck when they first visited the site.

The three-by-12-inch porcelain pieces are inspired by the industrial wood floors of the 1970s, but are of the moment thanks to their subtle grain pattern and versatile applications.

The tiles are ink-jet and cold-glazed porcelain, and are meant to weather slightly over time, like wood.

The tiles range from $10 to $22 per square foot.

Inside, Pine walls and ceilings received a dark stain, as did Oak floors.

A 41-foot-long heated saltwater pool includes a submerged tanning ledge. The hot tub was created using concrete and stucco. The outdoor area includes lounge chairs from Jøna’s curatory, Cast + Crew.

It’s hard to believe that, only two years ago, Jessy Moss and Steve Jocz’s glistening white home in Indian Wells, California, was being marketed as a teardown. Jessy, an interior designer who used to be a singer/songwriter, and Steve, a realtor who was once a member of the band Sum 41, saw the stucco-clad home’s potential and made it their mission to fix 50 years of decay. As the project unfolded, they researched the home’s origins, turning up troves of documents that strongly suggest it is an unrecognized work by midcentury icon William F. Cody. The circular concrete pavers in the driveway, replicas of originals, are reminiscent of pavers that Cody used for a motor court at another Southern California home.

SALLE 41 by reSAWN TIMBER co. features engineered WESTERN RED CEDAR that is designed to add graphic interest and a geometric pattern that complements the natural grain of the cedar for interior cladding (call for exterior). SALLE 41 is one of several designs from CUBISM by reSAWN. CUBISM by reSAWN TIMBER co. features several designs on WESTERN RED CEDAR. CUBISM WESTERN RED CEDAR is thoughtfully created using blocks ranging in lengths from 3” to 11”. Using only Clear A&Better Mixed Grain WESTERN RED CEDAR, the blocks are joined together to create consistent plank dimensions of 11/16” thick X 6-3/4” wide X ALL 16’ Long with T/G joinery. The blocks are recovered from trim backs (typically a very high quality waste product) from various parts of the production process. The planks maintain the superior durability characteristics of WRC and has the additional benefits of staying straight and flat, allowing for little or no warp in the material prior to installation. The joinery adds graphic interest and a geometric pattern that both contrasts and compliments the natural grain of the cedar. Each of the motel's 41 rooms is outfitted with custom, vinyl, tufted beds that are reminiscent of the property's iconic neon sign, and wall-mounted wood desks with burgundy laminate. Eric Trine-designed Wall Willy robe hooks hold colorful, Southwest-inspired bathrobes, while lip-shaped phones and vintage silkscreened posters complete the playful picture.
