Half & Half Tray by the Pursuits of Happiness, $65 Attracted to the physicality of clay, April Brimer began creating ceramics after a stint as a photographer. The Seattle-based designer produces her pieces by hand, like this nine-inch-long marbled porcelain tray with polka-dot accents.
The charred reclaimed oak on the ceiling continues onto the exterior of a loft space overlooking the dining area. Mod 265 wall lamps by Paolo Rizzatto for Flos illuminate a vintage trestle table that belonged to Claire’s family. The original pine floor boards were stained a chocolate brown.

After the sun sets, and the interior can be seen from outside, the owners light candles which make the cottage glow like a huge lantern.
