For over a century the Tahoe style has been synonymous with rustic. Although there are modern style homes at Lake Tahoe, they were never considered a Tahoe style. Our goal was to create a Modern Tahoe home, to bring the Tahoe style into the 21st century. By combining the ultra-modern look of glass and black metal with the warm and inviting feel of natural walnut, we were able to achieve this balance. We continued the blend of modern and rustic by incorporating the views of Lake Tahoe, with clean lines, crisp details, and distinctive accents both inside and out.
The showcase of this home is a glass tube elevator, adjacent to floating walnut stairs, taking you comfortably to every floor of the house. The outdoor space and the indoor space are virtually seamless, inviting you to enjoy every portion of this property including the panoramic view roof deck.
This project was a speculative development with cost efficiencies being the primary objective without effecting quality of the construction or finishes. The original house was not torn down. It was gutted to the studs, floors were reconfigured, and staircases relocated. Some of the roof and decks are original and the siding, known as Hardi-board, is a cement siding which was kept with newer areas added. The project was completed within the projected budget and construction timeline.
The home was an extensive renovation and many of the materials were reused in multiple opportunities to reduce waste. Lighting controls, LED fixtures and energy saving appliances were also incorporated.
