The Brief
Eldridge London—a studio celebrated for their daring, sculptural approach to architecture—invited us to collaborate on a showstopping feature for one of their latest residential creations. The vision centered around a dramatic, triangular tunnel designed to both obscure and reveal the entrance in a single architectural gesture.

Our task: to engineer an immense geometric door that would disappear entirely into the tunnel’s faceted form when closed. This piece needed to embody both bold sculptural intent and an obsessive commitment to precision and restraint.

Design Direction
From the outset, Eldridge London gravitated toward our distinctive bronze patina—a finish known for its warmth, depth, and organic character. It was chosen to offset the tunnel’s stark geometry with a material that felt timeless and richly tactile.

The ambition was unwavering: a door with no visible hardware, no frames—just a seamless, monolithic surface that felt born from the architecture itself.

Engineering & Craftsmanship
Achieving this required exceptional precision. A bespoke steel subframe was fabricated and installed on site, maintaining a tolerance of just 2mm—essential to ensuring the door sat flush and moved flawlessly within the tunnel’s sharp geometry.

The structure of the door itself echoed the tunnel’s angles exactly, demanding tight collaboration between designers, fabricators, and joiners. Every aspect—from the concealed pivot mechanism to the imperceptible joints—was engineered to preserve the purity of the form.

The final bronze patina was meticulously hand-applied in our workshop, resulting in a richly nuanced surface with natural tonal variations—bringing a sense of depth and artistry to the architectural statement.
