Presenting the Torquay Garden House by Lifespaces Group—a Geelong-based builder crafting exclusive designs in collaboration with Australia’s foremost architects. Nestled along Victoria’s Surf Coast, this project is from the Auhaus Release by Melbourne-based Auhaus Architecture.

The home's standout façade is a composition of copper, brick and timber. Over time, the copper’s surface will develop a natural patina, transitioning from deep brown to weathered blue, eventually acquiring a greenish tone. This natural transformation occurs in response to the coastal environment, protecting the metal beneath.

Central to the design is a private courtyard garden, with living spaces oriented to surround and interact with its lush green focal point. The single-storey plan connects seamlessly with both the central courtyard and a rear deck, creating an inviting flow that blends indoor and outdoor spaces, fostering a sense of retreat and immersion in nature.

Inside, the ambiance is one of understated elegance. The main living areas feature 3.1-metre high ceilings, enhancing the spacious feel, while an open-plan layout promotes a natural progression between rooms. The bedrooms are positioned at the front, establishing a peaceful separation from the living spaces, with the master suite offering a view into the courtyard garden.

The interior is crafted with a refined selection of materials. Bold green cabinetry contrasts against textured tiles, and hardwood floors add warmth. Soft timbers and neutral walls create a calm backdrop that is ideal for art.

Premium details throughout elevate the home’s sophistication. Elements like brushed bronze tapware by Sussex Taps, Neolith countertops, and high-end V-Zug appliances make the kitchen both functional and striking. Handmade La Paloma Grande Miro bricks by Austral Bricks contribute texture and depth to the copper exterior, grounding the home in a palette inspired by its surroundings.

The Torquay Garden House invites a tranquil coastal lifestyle. Contemporary in design and in harmony with its surrounding landscape, it will be enjoyed for generations to come.
