The Webster Poollhouse was part of a master plan to revitalize and reimagine a historic Hugh Comstock Adobe in Carmel Valley. Formerly the private residence of famed cartoonist Hank Ketcham, the pool house served as the creative haven where Ketcham and his team of artists brought Dennis the Menace to life. When the property changed hands to its new owners, it was imperative that the restoration of the pool house would preserve the iconic California ranch style and take advantage of the property’s panoramic views. Justin Pauly Architects’, working off of an earlier schematic design from Studio Schicketanz and in close collaboration with Landscape Architect Michael Bliss, reimagined the dilapidated structures and created a space that seamlessly blends new living quarters, a farm kitchen and abundant outdoor play spaces with the reimagined California landscape beyond .
