This rare Jacksonville modern home, designed by respected Washington D.C. architect, Winthrop W. Faulkner, is centered around the views of the Saint John’s River and Greenridge Park Creek. Faulkner was known for building livable and inspiring homes, with notable projects including residencial projects in Cleveland Park, D.C. as well as the Great Ape House and Crocodile Pavilion at the National Zoo, and U.S. Embassy housing in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The location could not be better, situated as it is on a quiet cul-de-sac in Miramar, with great neighbors, within a short walking, biking or driving distance from some of Jacksonville’s most sought after public and private schools, including Hendricks Avenue Elementary, Landon, Riverside Presbyterian Day School and Episcopal.
When it’s time to unwind, San Marco Square, offers a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment experiences, and is a brisk 25 minute walk, a breezy 10 minute bike ride or a 5 minute drive away from home.
Despite having all of the conveniences of city living, this home feels like a secluded treehouse, albeit a fortress of a treehouse, with reinforced concrete block and pre-formed concrete slab floors. Adding to the arboreal feel, it has an inverted floor plan which puts the main living area on the top floor, including 2 dining areas, and 3 bedrooms, each with their own balcony.
Take in the abundant marsh wildlife while breakfasting in the sunroom, preparing a meal in the kitchen, or enjoy the setting sun over the Saint John’s River while entertaining guests from the living room or the balcony. For a closer experience with nature, venture out in a kayak to take in the local attractions which include the resident pair of bald eagles, belted kingfishers, herons and egrets of all sorts and the occasional manatee!
The ground floor has a full bath, a bedroom and/or office and a large flex space which can be used as a kitten nursery, a disco, an exercise room, a playroom, an artist’s studio or all of the above! The dedicated movie theater with projector and built-in surround sound has its own AV control room and wet bar.
There is ample parking and storage in the 3 garages featuring insulated commercial roll-up doors. Other special features include 16kW PV roof mounted solar, a whole-house built-in generator, commercial HVAC, water softener and even a Tesla charger.
Recent upgrades include a newly painted exterior, a brand new septic system, extensive landscaping, new irrigation system, and a newly remodeled and expanded breakfast room overlooking the marsh.
Come see for yourself what makes 715 Rio Lindo Drive one of Jacksonville’s most memorable homes!
