From South Design Offices

The Shed Bed & Bread is an exemplary study in tiny living. South Design Offices transformed an underutilized, decrepit old shed into a quiet vacation retreat nestled within the urban forest. By simplifying the roof trusses into rafters, we lightened the visual load and heightened the perceived ceiling. The tiny house programming is organized linearly and distilled down to the necessities: a private patio, a dining/ reading nook, the kitchen, the hall library, a bathroom, and bedroom. Natural light floods the interior volume and frames the canopy, beyond. Every square inch of space is designed to be optimally functional to maximize usability and comfort. A simple materials palette of Baltic Birch plywood, Oak, concrete, and tile lends visual cohesiveness and a certain warmth that entices visitors to stay a while.
