A Harmonious Blend of Privacy, Sustainability, and Mediterranean Elegance
This house project in the heart of Prat de Llobregat epitomizes the seamless integration of sustainability, minimalist design, and functionality. Nestled within an urban environment close to local amenities, the home reflects a thoughtful approach to modern family living, with spaces tailored for privacy, light, and comfort.
Design Philosophy: A Sustainable Vision
The architectural concept is rooted in achieving environmental excellence (Class A) through the careful selection of materials, passive design strategies, and efficient thermal installations. By combining high-performance construction systems with an elegant, linear design, the house demonstrates how traditional techniques can coexist with contemporary sustainability principles.
A Patio as the Heart of the Home
At the core of this project lies the Mediterranean patio—a serene and multifunctional space that serves as both a visual and climatic filter. This courtyard design allows light and fresh air to penetrate the home, creating a bioclimatic system that enhances the interior's comfort. White gravel and greenery complement the simplicity and calm of the courtyard, which extends the living space outdoors year-round. Above, a terrace connects seamlessly to the interior, functioning as an outdoor room and providing a tranquil retreat.
Architectural Features: Materials and Aesthetics
The façade features a striking combination of eco-klinker bricks in light gray and volga tones, providing a harmonious balance of functionality and elegance. The ceramic latticework around the patio dematerializes boundaries, allowing for a flow of air and light while preserving privacy. Adjustable metal slats and framed balcony windows enhance both form and function, ensuring a cohesive and polished aesthetic throughout the home.
Customized Spaces for Modern Living
The ground floor accommodates practical spaces, including a guest room, games room, and an office—a quiet sanctuary for work and reflection. The first floor offers an open-plan layout encompassing the kitchen, dining, and living areas, all anchored by a central fireplace. The staircase, a striking metal structure with cantilevered steps, connects these spaces with sculptural elegance.
The second floor is dedicated to the family’s private quarters. A master suite features a custom-designed dressing room, a luxurious bathroom with tall, narrow windows for natural light and privacy, and an innovative wall unit that conceals the TV. Other bedrooms, including a small suite for the daughter, prioritize spatial efficiency and individuality. Shared bathrooms with dual entrances optimize usability, and high, sloping ceilings amplify the sense of space throughout.
Sustainability Meets Comfort
Designed as a lifelong family home, this project prioritizes sustainability, efficiency, and health. Passive architectural principles, such as strategic orientation, thermal insulation continuity, and the elimination of thermal bridges, ensure optimal energy performance. The home features advanced systems, including VRF cooling and heating, aerothermal technology for hot water and underfloor heating, and a photovoltaic installation for renewable energy.
A Timeless, Sustainable Sanctuary
By blending traditional construction methods with innovative technologies, this home achieves a perfect balance of beauty, functionality, and environmental responsibility. It is a space where thoughtful design meets sustainability, creating an inviting, serene, and efficient sanctuary for modern family living.
