The Marsh residence is a timeless piece of architecture and the first house designed by Dean Nota FAIA. The house was designed for artist Peggy Marsh, as a residence and studio in 1988, and was built adjacent to a 100 year old bungalow that had been her home since the early 60’s.
The AIA has honored the house twice, once when built and again with a preservation award twenty five years later. It also received a Sunset Western Home Award and has been featured in Global Architecture (Issue 26).
The Marsh residence is situated on a corner in north Hermosa Beach and features two bedrooms, two baths, a large living room and kitchen crowned by an expansive skylight and large deck with sweeping views of the ocean, two blocks away.
The house adjoins the original bungalow that includes a separate studio over the garage, with a patio nestled between them providing a private oasis. Both homes are filled with natural light and bright interiors, as well as privacy from each other, while providing a haven from the busy world. This compound has been home to several generations of one family since 1964, a unique pairing of old and new.
This listing represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a renowned architectural property. While the properties are listed individually, combined they create an enduring sanctuary for the discerning buyer.
