THE GALLERY, A LUXURIOUS PIED-A-TERRE IN ANTWERP

A cozy and luxurious base for weekends and vacations in the center of Antwerp, that was the starting point of the clients when they bought a shell apartment in The Gallery, a brutalist new building designed by Binst Architects for Vlaamse Poort. Soon the owners turned to B BRAND for the design of this spacious three-bedroom apartment overlooking the Scheldt River.

The design is characterized by exclusive materials with distinct textures. A constant in the interior is the silver-gray travertine that was used for both floor and bathroom finishes. The different functions of the living space switch around a central volume that contains multiple functions. Along the side of the living room, it functions as a TV cabinet with grid-shaped bookshelf, manifesting as a patchwork of the different materials used throughout the interior. At the end, toward the kitchen, illuminated open shelves were created that can be used as bar furniture. Along the dining room side, a niche was provided, executed with blue Kvadrat Acoustics. As a final detail, the edge at the top of this furniture was slotted all around for the air conditioning outlet.

The kitchen was completely designed by B BRAND and coordinated with the rest of the interior. Executed by Bulthaup. Characteristic of the design is the sand beige aluminum island with natural stone worktop. The back wall was executed in dark wood with a stainless steel worktop. The bedrooms were fitted with high-pile carpet to add to the hotel feel. In the master bedroom, the suite feeling is further reinforced by executing the separation between bathroom and bedroom in bronze-colored fumed glass, making it seem as if the bathtub covered with natural stone is central in the room. All rooms were fitted with room-high closets and office furniture.
