274 Kathleen Street in Guelph Ontario Canada, exemplifies our dedication to restorative housing and its potential to meet both resident and community needs. Designed as a multi-generational home, it features 2 flexible units plus a live in care-giver space. This home is designed to adapt to occupants' changing needs, with opportunities for ageing in-place with dignity, income generation and food production/security.
Throughout the design and construction process, health and wellness have been central to our approach. We adopted the Living Future's Living Building Challenge methodology, integrating design imperatives from the seven petals: Place, Water, Energy, Health & Happiness, Materials, Equity, and Beauty.
Guided by these petals, this home features all electric power with solar PV collection and EV charger, a stormwater collection system, Minotair mechanical and indoor air filtration system, Sanden heat pump hot water system, a winter garden, Zinco designed rooftop food production garden, interior biophilic design features and a carbon sequestering bio-based exterior shell system.
