Settled just beyond a charming stone border and fragrant gardens, this historic 3-bedroom, 2-bath home is a Carmel treasure. The original Spanish style structure was built in 1920 with an addition in the 1990s. An extensive remodel created a seamless architectural style, restoring the 1,355-square-foot home’s old-world sensibilities. Vaulted, beam-adorned ceilings, custom ironwork and stone fireplace give the living/dining room an expansive yet warm and cozy feel. The vintage knob and tube electrical system was replaced throughout, and insulation and energy-efficient lighting were added to enhance performance. Reclaimed old growth vertical fir boards, once used in stadium bleachers, perfectly match the home’s existing wood flooring. Brilliant white subway tiles in the kitchen and the original clay roofing tiles—removed and reused—complete the authentic look if its historic era.
