This single-level residence redefines accessible living through thoughtful, intentional design. Designed for a couple with differing mobility needs—one uses a wheelchair, the other does not—the home gracefully accommodates a broad spectrum of accessibility without compromise. Tucked into a compact, cross-sloped site on a constrained urban lot, the home is carefully nestled into the landscape to achieve seamless, at-grade access at all entries.
Inside, the plan emphasizes openness and connection. A vaulted ceiling expands the modest footprint, establishing a sense of spaciousness across the connected kitchen, dining, and living areas. At the entry, a custom-built display showcases the homeowner’s vinyl record collection—bringing personality and warmth to the home’s modern sensibility.
Accessibility is seamlessly integrated throughout. The kitchen includes under-counter appliances and a lowered island for easy roll-up access. Touchless faucets add subtle convenience, while both bathrooms feature zero-threshold showers, digital controls, and ADA-compliant fixtures—executed with a refined, cohesive material palette.
This home is more than barrier-free—it’s a quietly radical statement in inclusive living. It proves that accessibility and high design are not at odds!
