Our clients for this project came to us with a lot of land and a dream to create their forever home. Being a young family that loves to entertain, they wanted a home that they could grow into with a layout that was conducive to hosting and finishes that would stand the test of time. Our team carefully documented the clients' needs, entire home wishlist, and vision for how they'd like to live in their new home. Using all of these foundational details, we provided our turnkey custom home design and build services, facilitating everything in creating this roughly 4000 sq ft. dream home from start to finish.
We brought together a trusted team of architects, builders, and contractors to execute our design vision for this old-meets-new home, managing execution and quality throughout the entire process. This created a hands-off experience for our clients where they were involved in only the most creative and enjoyable parts of the process – just what they were looking for!
As this project name alludes, the clients resonated with a European design aesthetic, but wanted their home to include new-age technologies and features that felt current. We incorporated classic elements, such as dormers, three-point arches, board and batten and natural limestone cladding which we juxtaposed with contemporary elements such as the black windows with drywall returns, integrated appliances and sculptural lighting fixtures. The home includes an open concept kitchen and great room with water views, a hidden butler’s pantry, a formal dining room, a large mudroom, a grand foyer, a music room, several bedrooms and bathrooms, a home office, a primary suite with covered balcony and finally, a separate garage equipped with a golf simulator, car lift and full bathroom.
This custom home sits on about an acre of waterfront property, which we drew a lot of inspiration from. We wanted the home to complement its surroundings, so we used natural materials and colour tones on the exterior and carried them inside to create an organic feel. We incorporated reclaimed wood, imperfect and patinaed materials, and natural limestone that was all hand-chiselled and over-grouted to give it an old-world appearance.
Making the most of the property’s stunning waterfront views was a priority. The home features large windows throughout, but since the best view was from the living room, we opted for a vaulted, double-height ceiling so that we could incorporate floor-to-ceiling windows. The ceiling features hand-picked, reclaimed wood beams paired with cedar tongue and groove to allow for a beautiful feature as your eye is drawn up the windows to the ceiling. The beams and tongue and groove are repeated in the grand foyer and the primary ensuite.
