The Interior architecture project was developed by Marcela Wandenkolk Arquitetura e Interiores, for the resident and her young son. The apartment, in the heart of Vila Madalena, a bohemian neighborhood in São Paulo, has an architectural design for the building signed by the FGMF office.
The resident, who was divided between the cities of Santos and São Paulo, was looking for a well located apartment. The balconies of the building unit caught his attention, and one of his wishes for the project was that the space be kept as a “backyard” for his son to play and that the apartment have the comfort and coziness of a village house.
With a project completely developed during the pandemic period, the alignment between the client and the architecture office team was essential for the good result of the whole process. The period also guided the choice of colors, carefully selected to bring comfort and tranquility to the property. These are colors that refer to the tones of nature and that complement the choice of materials for the project, ranging from rustic to polished, creating a very pleasant experience.
Structural changes to the apartment were minor, including expanding the kitchen space and replacing the bathroom doors with sliding doors. In the service area, a sliding door with fluted glass was installed, which gives privacy to the environment and allows natural lighting to enter the kitchen. The stone countertop integrates the kitchen and living room, encouraging interaction.
Among the many elements custom-designed for the project, the piece in blue locksmithing and woodwork stands out. It integrates the social area with the dining room, with a rack, bar and bookcase, leaving free circulation and views to the terrace. The palette of furniture pieces, predominantly in soft colors, has touches of color to bring joy to the environments.
On the terrace, which was purposely not integrated into the living room, the atmosphere is relaxed, with a rocking chair and woody finishes. Ideal space for the resident's child to play. In the master suite, attention is drawn to the wooden structure of the bed, which made the architects immediately fall in love with its design. The softness of the chosen tones and the textures bring all the coziness needed to rest with tranquility and highlight the beautiful view from the “L” window. The bathrooms were standardized and received pieces in bespoke joinery, such as the mirrors that hide cabinets.
