Nestled on Ngu Hiep Island in Cai Lay, a serene oasis in Tien Giang province, Palm Villas seamlessly blends modern architectural aesthetics with the lush tropical landscape of the Mekong Delta. With its minimalist palette of white and grey harmonizing with the surrounding greenery, the project takes full advantage of its riverfront location to offer a unique and immersive living experience.

A Second Home for Tranquility and Connection
Palm Villas embodies the Second Home concept—an emerging housing trend that prioritizes relaxation, nature immersion, and a retreat from urban life. Designed as both a private getaway and a flexible rental property, the project fosters a deep connection with the local environment and culture, allowing residents to refresh their spirit and rejuvenate.

On a breezy afternoon by the river, one can truly appreciate the essence of Palm Villas—the gentle sway of greenery, the cool mist rising from the water, and the rhythmic flow of the Mekong. The house becomes a dialogue between architecture and nature, where stillness and movement, emptiness and fluidity, are harmonized into a seamless sensory experience.

A Challenging Yet Rewarding Construction Journey
Construction of Palm Villas began in March, during the seasonal drop in water levels—a crucial period for laying the project’s foundation. The process started with securing the land using concrete embankments reinforced by deep-set piles, a challenging yet critical phase that demanded significant effort in terms of cost, labor, and logistics.

Despite the relatively quiet nature of this river section, where around 30 boats and barges pass each hour carrying goods and construction materials, the project benefited from the region’s flourishing river trade, ensuring a smooth supply chain of essential materials, from steel and cement to bricks and sand.

Minimalist Design, Maximum Harmony
Palm Villas is more than just a residence—it is an architectural dialogue with its surroundings, reflecting a thoughtful design approach that respects the region’s identity. Rooted in minimalist principles, the structure maximizes efficiency while fostering a sustainable and interactive living space.

The project is divided into two functional areas:

Living Space: A meticulously planned interior, where a seamlessly integrated living room, kitchen, and dining area form a communal core. Two well-appointed bedrooms provide a tranquil retreat, while the bathroom and laundry area are cleverly connected to natural light and ventilation.
Garden and Riverfront: The veranda, strategically positioned along the river-facing side, acts as a transitional buffer between the indoor and outdoor environments. This space ensures privacy while offering sweeping views of the garden and waterway, creating an open yet intimate connection with nature.
The house is designed to maximize cross-ventilation and natural light, adapting to the region’s tropical climate while maintaining flexible spatial arrangements that cater to varying needs and usage scenarios.
