We just completed a budget-conscious full remodel of our 100 year old Denver Craftsman Bungalow. The exterior has been turning heads in the neighborhood as we opted for a black stucco finish with wood decking and door accents. Quite the departure from the original pale yellow stucco exterior that has been its look for nearly a century.
Inside we embraced Scandinavian warm minimalism which pairs surprisingly well with some of the original materials used throughout the main floor. Wide plank white oak floors flow into the open kitchen/dining, showcasing marbelesque quartz counters. The previously non-functional fireplace was re-imagined into a contemporary accent piece using a unique Roman clay finish.
A new master suite was created to include a brand new ensuite bathroom featuring a spacious walk-in rain shower clad in a natural pastel stone palette, complete with soffit and under vanity lighting. A full kitchen remodel accentuated a new garden window and enabled a clean contemporary look in a space that had been minimally refined since the 90s. Globe accent lighting ties a new mudroom into the dining room lighting while providing the space with a modest elegance.
In the basement, the original upstairs doors were reused and repainted to provide a cozy modern den plus 2 bedrooms and a study below grade. The home's mechanical room was relocated with new central air conditioning to provide usable space in the basement den.
