The opening comes at a prime time for Northern Lights enthusiasts, as solar activity is reaching its 11-year peak. Solar physicist Frédéric Clette also notes that this favourable aurora activity is likely to continue beyond the peak, extending spectacular viewing conditions until at least 2028, making ÖÖD Hekla Horizon the perfect destination for an unforgettable Northern Lights experience.

The site offers luxurious accommodations, from Signature Houses to the spacious new Big Monolith Houses, catering to couples, families, and groups. In total, guests of Hekla Horizon can choose from 3 Signature Mirror Houses, 2 New Extended Mirror Houses and 2 Big Monolith Mirror Houses, that boast 2 bedrooms and a living room. Additionally, Hekla Horizon offers a Northern Lights Lounge, the first of its kind - built on the Big Monolith frame, boasting 180-degree views of rugged Icelandic landscapes without reflective mirrored glass and a spa area open to all guests.
