The design concept revolves around increasing the visual and material volume of the space by combining the corridor, kitchen, and living room, as well as the idea of bringing natural light even into the darkest corners of the apartment.
The apartment was a gift from the clients to their parents. There were a few requests: two separate bedrooms, maximum storage space, and household appliances.
The interiors of the two bedrooms differ in character to suit their owners. In one of the rooms, besides the bed, a workspace is provided, which the architects designed with a wall panel, creating a unified composition of the bed's headboard and the desk.
"Keeping, as requested, two separate bedrooms, we abandoned the dark, long corridor and merged it with the combined space of the kitchen-living room. We highlighted a quite noticeable load-bearing ceiling beam by organizing a translucent shelving unit underneath, which became a bright element of the 'constructivist' interior," say the project architects Alexey Dobrov and Nikita Sitnikov.
The glossy "English oak" parquet in a rich honey color emerged as a homage to the design of the 1950s-60s of the last century. Along the entire living room wall, there is a capacious built-in wardrobe with a finish of natural wood. Glass transoms allowed natural light to penetrate into once dark corners of the apartment.
A large number of storage systems allowed hiding away everything unnecessary from view. And most importantly, the apartment became incredibly bright. And this is the main secret of the beauty of any space and the good mood of the people living in it.
