Modern Barn in the Hamptons

A new home in the Hamptons has completely delighted its owners.

The 2,183 square foot house in Sag Harbor, NY, designed by Southampton-based architect Pamela Glazer, has a two-story living room, four bedrooms, three baths, a basement with a TV room/gym, a 16 x 40 square foot pool, an outdoor shower, courtyard and garden.

Glazer worked closely with her clients, a couple who requested a modern barn that would serve as their weekend country house. The result is a thoughtful home with many details that have brought beauty and ease to their living spaces, as well as ecofriendly materials such as reclaimed wood beams and recycled exterior siding. When the pandemic hit, they decided to make it their full time live-work home.

As the couple notes: From a practical standpoint, we found that the house possessed an ergonomic simplicity that enabled us to seamlessly transition to a full time live-work scenario. The house calmed us as the world outside seemed to fall apart, providing a radiant soothing energy that continues to get through the day. We find ourselves thinking about our house, our home, with tremendous gratitude to it – and to Pam for her design vision.
