This 150 m² contemporary apartment is located in Moscow and belongs to a young couple. Interior designer Sergey Tregubov created the project in collaboration with his colleague, Olga Savchenko.
Although the couple had no children at the time, their future family plans were carefully woven into the design. The open-plan living area, spanning 45 m², seamlessly integrates the living room, dining space, and kitchen into one fluid environment. The private section, covering 26 m², houses the master bedroom, a walk-in wardrobe, and a spacious bathroom. Additionally, a flexible space, currently used as a home cinema, is designed to transition into a future children's room, adapting to the evolving needs of the family.
"We envisioned a 'patio zone' in the corner of the living room, framed by pergolas that glow at night," says Sergey. Dramatically illuminated in the evening, these structures define a cozy nook furnished with two outdoor-style armchairs and a suspended fireplace. According to the homeowners, this inviting retreat has quickly become their favorite spot — an ideal escape for unwinding after a long day.
The generous proportions of the master bedroom allowed for a bold design statement — positioning the bed at the center of the room. Behind the headboard, a partition with rotating vertical slats introduces an element of dynamic design. As the slats shift, they cast delicate, patterned shadows on the opposite wall, creating a captivating interplay of light and texture.
The bathroom is divided into two zones: a toilet area separated by a glass partition and a shower space, anchored by an island vanity with an oval mirror suspended against a charred wood panel. The most striking design choice, however, is the monochrome black palette. The couple embraced this daring concept, accentuated by two illuminated portals at the entrance. Reflections in the glass amplify both depth and luminosity, while a red backlight in the shower introduces a subtle chromotherapy effect, energizing the space and its inhabitants for the day ahead.
The future children’s room is envisioned in deep August greens, softened by neutral greys — a palette that is both rich and calming. The designers introduced a custom wardrobe featuring an illustration of a gentle bear, which serves not just as a decorative element but as a symbolic guardian of the future child's peace and comfort.
Throughout the apartment, eco-friendly materials and natural matte finishes foster a tactile, soothing ambiance. Bespoke furniture is thoughtfully paired with curated Italian designer pieces, striking a balance between comfort and character. Soft furnishings by Amalone, a St. Petersburg-based brand, lend a sense of warmth, while custom kitchen cabinetry — crafted from innovative metal facades by Slotex — was precision-built by Stoletto. The kitchen island and countertops feature large-format porcelain stoneware from Alco, and the marble dining table was realized through a collaboration of three specialized workshops.
Storage solutions were seamlessly integrated to maintain clean lines and visual continuity. A 6 m² laundry area is discreetly concealed behind a mirrored door in the hallway, while built-in cabinetry and storage systems throughout the home ensure a clutter-free, expansive feel.
