Mid Century Modern Stunner in So Cal

Set atop a west facing hillside in coastal Solana Beach along a quiet palm lined street, sat a crumbling pale yellow cinderblock home, almost entirely obscured by a jungle of overgrowth.
It took only eighteen months to revive what was once a happy and thriving home for a family of five for nearly three decades. The renovation focused on capitalizing on west facing ocean views and creating a fluidity between the indoor space and the beauty of the outdoors.
While the home itself is quite clearly a nod to textbook mid century modern architecture. The interior is playful and charming thanks to the design team at Tholom Hart. A hunt Slonem portrait of Abe Lincoln hangs against a terracotta backdrop, and a provocative print from Timorous Beasties lines the interior of an otherwise ordinary built in bench. With surprises around every corner, this home is a delightfully appealing nod to both the past and present.
