An intimate reading nook in Lua's living space features mid-century chairs and a custom made marble-metal geometric bookshelf. The alcove is framed by a floating staircase with grey metal balustrades, a view of an adjacent courtyard and a forward-facing view (not visible here) of the home's double-height accordion glass doors that open into an expansive crescent-shaped pool.

The apex of the home is an awe-striking living room featuring a six-hundred sq. foot wall treated with PoP to replicate the blue-grey surface of the moon. The immense creation is enhanced by a low hanging shooting-star cluster chandelier.

Pool-facing accordion ceiling-height glass doors flank one side of the room. Natural light tempered by reflections on the water and glass floods into the space. The interiors of this living area are deliberately positioned to leverage and manipulate light throughout the day; offering cosy corners hidden by extended shadows and brightly light nooks overlooking the garden, pool and sky.

Lua mirrors its celestial muse in interiors as well as silhouettes. Its orbital layout and louvred panels, borrow light and diffuse it across shifting, angular spaces creating a studied balance of the intimate and expansive.

The second in a trilogy of Bawa-inspired, eco-conscious residences at Si-Oul Villas, The Moon House, features a suspended hallway, crescent-shaped pool, observatory deck, and a five-hundred sq. foot wall replica of the surface of the moon.

Lua or The Moon House is an expansive home stretching across nearly 9,000 square feet, two storeys and three distinctive wings. The home’s orbital layout and interloping sections mirror the balance and tranquility of the lunar cycle. A combination of granite and slate embellishments throughout the home maintain a gradient scale of gray that diffuses natural light and condenses spaces to create both seclusion and intimacy.

The immense teak wood doors that open into the residence feature cut-out motifs of the lunar cycle, which offer the first glimpse of a consistent theme. A warmly lit hallway leads into the apex of the home, an awe-striking living room featuring a six-hundred sq. foot wall treated with PoP to replicate the blue-grey surface of the moon. The immense creation is enhanced by a low hanging shooting-star cluster chandelier.

Pool-facing accordion ceiling-height glass doors flank one side of the room. Natural light tempered by reflections on the water and glass floods into the space. The interiors of this living area are deliberately positioned to leverage and manipulate light throughout the day; offering cozy corners hidden by extended shadows and brightly light nooks overlooking the garden, pool and sky.

The living spaces spills over into an artfully curated library featuring mid-century Z-chairs and bespoke bookshelf made of metal and marble. This living space flows into a beautifully appointed bar room with outdoor, pool-side seating.

The home’s four spacious bedrooms range between 500 to 550 square feet each. The main wing of the house features a floating staircase with metal balustrade that leads to a private terrace and top floor bedroom. The second wing features two bedrooms (one on each floor).

A third wing is relegated to the master suite, which is connected to the rest of the home by garden walkways and a pool bridge. The unique bedroom features an internal stairway that leads to an overhead observatory deck. The deck with a louvred wooden roof is surrounded by lush foliage and offers an uninterrupted view of the night sky. The master bathroom with monotone concrete grey walls, a step down shower area and ocular sky-roof is an inspiring space that amplifies a sense of seclusion and retreat. Most of the bathrooms in the house feature similar sun-roofs.

Lua or Moon House is one of three bespoke, eco-conscious residences called the Si-Oul Villas. All three homes, Sol (Sun House), Lua (Moon House and Terra (Earth House) are designed to be inventively eco-conscious. They include water-efficient plumbing. Their angular roofs harvest rainwater, which is treated for reuse by an underground tank. Sky-roofs, curved hallways, louvred panels and fluid layouts are carefully planned to increase ventilation and distribute natural light, making the homes inherently energy efficient. Balconies are built around pre-existing trees and the gardens include ecologically viable plants.
