"Los Durmientes" House is located in the Valle Santana subdivision, in Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico. Designed as a space for gathering and relaxation, this residence spreads over a 5,000 m² lot, with a constructed area of 485 m². Its conception reflects integration with the surroundings, combining materials and construction systems that interact with nature.
Surrounded by railroad ties, elements that inspire its name and define its character, the house is built on a metal structure complemented by stone materials such as local stone and ashlar. This combination creates a duality between the contemporary and the traditional, bringing warmth and texture to the spaces.
The layout of the home emphasizes the continuity between interior and exterior, with large, strategically placed windows that allow natural light to enter and frame panoramic views. The social area is conceived as a fluid space where the living room, dining room, and open kitchen extend toward the terrace, reinforcing the connection with the landscape. This level also houses the wine cellar, a half bathroom, and the service areas, including a laundry room and a maid's room with a full bathroom. The terrace is configured as an outdoor gathering point, equipped with a living-dining room, barbecue area, firepit, and a reflecting pool that accentuates the serenity of the surroundings.
On the upper level, the residence houses the master bedroom with a dressing room and bathroom, along with four secondary bedrooms, all with dressing rooms and en-suite bathrooms. A TV room with an open terrace complements this level, offering an additional living space with privileged views.
The design incorporates sustainability principles that optimize the home's energy performance. A water treatment plant and a natural ventilation system ensure a low environmental impact, while the layout of the windows maximizes the use of natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting and improving thermal efficiency.
