This custom home was designed for a young family to meet their desire for a modern home that was casual, inviting and family-friendly. The house is sited to capture views of the nearby mountains, maximize access to daylight and enhance indoor / outdoor connections. Elements such as frameless glass corners and sliding glass doors that meet at a corner with no visible support emphasize the house’s connections to the outdoors. At the entry an exterior stone wall continues into the interior of the house and becomes an organizing “spine” of the home. Inside, materials and ceiling heights are used to define “rooms” within the open floor plan, creating an easy flow throughout the house.
