The 1.38-acre hilltop lot in Cherry Log, GA, could provide inspiring vistas… if not for the high, obstructive tree line.

The selected architectural design firm and client collaborated tirelessly to create a solution. Finally, they landed on a concept that would elevate the home above the ground and even incorporate the surrounding Georgia hardwoods into the design.

The result is a modern rustic retreat allowing visitors to ascend gradually into the canopy and, once there, enjoy stunning mountain views from among the trees.

One can even sneak away by crossing a small walking bridge to hideout in a semi-attached sauna to sweat, unplug and continue to take in the views from a breathtaking height.

The "criss-cross" floor plan and high ceilings make the most of the small, mountainous site making the home feel more expansive than its 1200 sq ft layout would indicate.

An elevated wrap-around deck allows for the continued growth of the existing trees, making them a charming, whimsical inclusion. Even the siding, which features actual tree bark, never lets one forget they are indeed high among the trees in what seems like another world entirely.
