The housing project is commissioned by a young family with strong roots in the Guanacaste area, in particular Coco beach. They are from the small town even before "El Coco" existed, they have an undeniable connection with the sea, with the changing winds of the area and especially with its sunsets. The project therefore does not claim to be a beach vacation home, nor an introverted town house. It seeks to rescue the spatial warmth of Guanacaste architecture that sometimes finds no place in contemporary architecture.
It is the interpretation of the most traditional elements of Guanacaste architecture in a
context and with a current design style.
The typical wraparound corridor of the Guanacaste houses, whose function was to lower the temperature of the warm environment becomes a double layer of social space that surrounds the house.
The entrance staircase is the first layer of the house, its large dimensions make it the first social encounter between private housing and the life that passes around it, while saving the high level change between the street and the house that was seeking at all costs to maximize the ocean view.
A large terrace as a second layer along with the pool are the key elements for mastering the temperature of the house, creating a shaded and cool space located in a position facing the winds, and making the most of the ocean view.
This large shaded space allows you to open the doors of the house from side to side achieving cross ventilation without losing privacy in front of the street.
Functionally the house is articulated through a hall that divides the private spaces of the bedrooms from the social area and that becomes a large showcase of light that invites everyone to enter.
