Geology Studio’s Off The Wall TV credenza takes a fresh approach to the big screen. The impossible conundrum of home stylists everywhere; a TV on the wall can be a real vibe killer. Adam Friedman of Geology Studio wanted to fix that by bringing the TV ‘off the wall’, and nestling it into a beautiful handmade credenza-style wood casing - a custom look that’s designed to perfectly fit your TV and your space.
The benefits are more than aesthetic. "When you're in a museum, the pictures hang on the wall so the viewer can experience them at eye level. I wanted to bring the TV down to eye level for a more comfortable and immersive experience," says Geology Studio designer and co-founder, Adam Friedman.
Adam also took the sound quality into careful consideration by designing the piece with a patented sound reflection panel which allows traditional downfire speakers to reflect outward towards the viewer.
Looking at the piece, it’s easy to be struck by the minimalist aesthetic but much engineering went into the complex development of this piece. The Off the Wall credenza is made to fit any TV using a proprietary attachment method which perfectly nestles any flat screen into place and ready for viewing, giving the look and feel of a truly custom piece. “The goal was to take your TV and just make it better - better sounding, better looking, better integrated into the home,” says Friedman.
Geology Studio co-founder, Vanessa Friedman says, “We’ve been using this piece in our home for several months now. Every time we have guests over, they’re shocked when they realize there’s a TV in the space. They usually comment on the credenza and then notice the TV inside much later. Technology is always asking for our attention. I love how we can reclaim our walls for art and let the TV take the main stage only when we decide turn it on.”
Geology Studio is run by a husband and wife team, Adam and Vanessa Friedman out of their Claremont, CA-based studio.
Every piece is hand-built locally in Southern California and thoughtfully developed by Adam Friedman, designer and craftsman at geologystudio.com.
