Commissioned by a couple with a large collection of pop art sculpture, the Gallery Shed House was an exercise in how to integrate everyday life with the ability to interact with the collection. The overall form and exterior material of the project took its inspiration from the metal clad utilitarian machine sheds that dot the surrounding rural Wisconsin landscape. Low maintenance and sleek, the corrugated metal reflects the ever-changing mood of the sky.

On the interior, a series of skylights down the axis of the main living area provide the ability to light the artwork without admitting direct sunlight onto the objects. The bulk of the collection is displayed on a custom steel framework that forms a dividing wall between the more public spaces in the house and the corridor to the private bedrooms.
