Flip Blue is a project that transforms an apartment in the eastern-central area of Genoa into an inspiring retreat, designed for a young couple with a deep passion for music and pop art. Located in the San Martino neighborhood, the apartment occupies the top floor of a building elevated above its neighbors, offering an open view of the Genoese hills dotted with ancient walls and fortifications interspersed with modern buildings. The panorama stretches along winding streets climbing toward scenic viewpoints, with the eye drawn to the Forte di San Martino.
The contrast between the apartment and the rest of the building is evident from the outset.

The stately style of the building, dating back to the first half of the 20th century, fades as soon as one crosses the threshold of Flip Blue, where bold colors and intertwined geometric shapes stand in stark opposition to the traditional style of the structure.

At the entrance, a large custom-made bookcase built into the side wall draws the eye to the end of the apartment, creating a rhythm of full and empty spaces. It features a sliding metal ladder that provides access to books and objects placed higher up, becoming a distinctive element of the entire wall.

This wall is painted red, echoing other tubular metallic elements in the room, such as the directional light above the island and the large radiator.

The interior layout has been reimagined to create a spacious living area, ideal for hosting friends and enjoying moments of relaxation. This space serves as the beating heart of the home, where the use of vibrant colors and simple shapes gives the room a pop character.

The open-plan kitchen is conceived as a play of geometries: the blue wall-mounted modules are reflected on the resin floor of the same color, defining a space that is distinct but not enclosed by vertical elements.

At the center of this "rug" stands a white marble island that appears to have just been extracted from the same material embedded in the fitted wall at the back.

The hallway’s distribution space is conceived as a "color box," guiding the way to the sleeping area, which consists of two bedrooms and a space for music and leisure. The walls of these rooms bordering the hallway are painted: light blue behind the bed's headboard and green as the backdrop for the DJ station. This gives the house an almost kaleidoscopic dimension.

The bathroom evokes the atmosphere of a tropical forest, especially within the shower niche, where dark jungle-style coverings with natural motifs create a striking contrast with the white that dominates the rest of the room.

The shower ceiling is the true star of the bathroom: made of frosted glass, it conceals various types of tropical leaves illuminated from above by a beam of light that mimics sunlight filtering through dense forest canopies.

The interplay of transparency adds depth, transforming the element into an almost artistic installation that generates a new visual stimulus, enhancing the concept of an exotic oasis.

The architects at Studio Bump emphasize a strong connection and dialogue with their clients. Thanks to this synergy, Flip Blue becomes a space that meets daily needs while reflecting the creative aspirations of those who live in it.
