Overlooking a vast canyon in the heart of Mission Hills in San Diego, this two-story home is a retreat to nature in a dense neighborhood. With neighboring homes eight feet apart, views are oriented toward the canyon and a street-side private courtyard. The layout is planned as one encompassing space that brings together the living room, dining room, and the kitchen, with sight lines directing toward the back patio and canyon. The back of the house features a large glass wall with stacking glass doors that create a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor living spaces. Landscape further enhances a sense of seclusion, with plants reaching up to the outer walls to feel like an extension of the house. Warm-toned ash wood complements the natural elements and establishes the backdrop for much of the interior spaces, culminating in an inviting atmosphere that carries through both day and night.
