Perched among the scenic hills of Mill Valley, this eco-friendly home seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, prioritizing sustainability, flexibility, and connectivity. Designed for openness, it maximizes natural ventilation and light, enhancing both comfort and productivity while fostering harmony between the built environment and the natural landscape.
The home’s layout supports this balance with private retreats, workspaces, and communal areas. Large operable glass doors and windows dissolve the boundaries between inside and out while framing the breathtaking views of Mount Tamalpais. The project makes use of passive-cooling strategies, high-performance glazing, photovoltaic and battery storage to reduces energy consumption, and sustainable materials reinforce a healthy, environmentally conscious design.

At the heart of the home, a central atrium serves as a visual and social hub, encouraging interaction all while bringing in light, ventilation and greenery. Exposed structural elements, like warm woods and natural stone finishes emphasize authenticity and strengthen the connection to the surrounding landscape.

The landscape, thoughtfully curated with native and drought-resistant plants, integrates a rainwater and graywater catchment system to conserve water while nourishing a biodiverse habitat for pollinators and wildlife. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees provide homegrown produce, reinforcing sustainable living and a deep connection to nature.

Carefully planned to balance aesthetics, function, and sustainability, this home offers an inspiring sanctuary adaptable to evolving multi-generational needs. Whether gathering with loved ones, tending the garden, or unwinding on the spacious deck, residents experience a lifestyle that harmonizes modern living with the beauty and resilience of Mill Valley’s natural environment.
