Dressing Room Among Quillayes
From VYN
Located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains on the road to Farellones, this project is set within a large wooded plot on the outskirts of Santiago, where native vegetation, predominantly myrtle and quillay trees, plays a fundamental role to be respected and preserved. The bathroom-dressing room is part of a larger recreational project that includes terraces, a poolside shower area, a BBQ zone, and a 7-meter-long reinforced concrete table designed as a central gathering space. In this first phase, the service area is presented as a key functional element of the ensemble, maintaining a constant dialogue with its natural surroundings.
With dimensions of 3.20 meters in length by 2.40 meters in width, the bathroom-dressing room adopts a rectangular floor plan and is constructed entirely of wood, both inside and out, which imparts a warm and inviting character. A large window allows natural light to flood the space and establishes a direct visual connection with the forest, creating a user experience that integrates the landscape while preserving the privacy inherent to the space. The proposal respects the original topography to the greatest extent, avoiding alterations to the terrain and responding to the site’s climatic conditions, including potential snowfall in winter, ensuring functionality and adaptability throughout the year.
This project not only fulfills a practical purpose but also celebrates the surroundings and their qualities, integrating naturally and subtly into the landscape. Wood, as the primary material, combined with visual openness to the exterior, allows the space to be perceived as an extension of the forest, inviting users to experience comfort and tranquility. The result is an example of respectful and functional architecture, where simple, efficient design enhances the beauty of the location and underscores the importance of living harmoniously with nature.
