Originally built in the 1960s by the architect-homeowner, this Cole Valley home is set on a wooded hillside with expansive views of San Francisco. SVK ID was brought in to renovate and update the home for a family of three, while maintaining much of the original mid-century character.
A large Sub-zero refrigerator and Wolf range were already part of the kitchen but were moved to optimize the layout and counter top space. HenryBuilt created the custom cabinetry in walnut and white laminate, and Heath Ceramics dimensional wall tile give a nod to the home's modern architecture. Over the sink, a pendant by Allied Maker is made with perforated blackened brass and black walnut.
Adjacent to the kitchen is a breakfast nook, outfitted with a marble Saarinen tulip table, classic Prouve dining chairs, and hanging pendant designed by Danish firm Norm Architects.
The master bathroom was reconfigured to make room for a double vanity and large shower enclosure. Dark grey tile by Heath is set in a herringbone pattern, wrapping from floor to the back of the shower wall. A single Workstead sconce illuminates the vanity.
