The owner of this dwelling is a young woman with an eye for beauty and a definitive wish list. She envisioned a home filled with natural light and made with eco-friendly materials—a gentle echo of her beloved Bali island. Interior designer Maria Ushakova, finding much common ground with her client, crafted a space that captures this vision. "We clicked right away, finding that our tastes in style were in perfect harmony. The client, always cultivating her personal and spiritual growth, enjoys an active, healthy lifestyle and loves things that are aesthetically pleasing and well-made," Maria narrates. The apartment was designed to be a peaceful retreat for relaxation, meditation, and quality moments with loved ones.
The 120 sqm space houses two bedrooms, a unified living and kitchen area, storage, and a generous bathroom. The master bedroom's area, complete with a walk-in closet and a sizeable bathroom with a roomy shower and bath by the window, was designed just as the owner wished. The compact kitchen leads to an expansive living room, brimming with light from wall-sized windows, offering a view that extends into the lush greenery beyond.

"The client is my inspiration. Their vision of life in their future home shapes the project. We agreed on 'simplicity, lightness, and eco-friendliness' from the start," says the designer.

Keeping a lofty ceiling height of 3.10 meters was key to achieving a breezy feel. The designer installed a symmetric ventilation frame around the rooms, which also allowed for curtains to hang from the ceiling, visually stretching the lovely panoramic windows and enhancing room height. The kitchen's design avoids upper cabinets, adding to the sense of spaciousness.

Softened forms infuse the apartment's architecture and decor. A gentle arch connects the entrance to the living area, easing the transition. Rounded furniture forms—like the pouffe console, dining table, sofa, and coffee tables—are present throughout.

The interior's foundation is built on natural elements that balance warmth and comfort. Portuguese pink marble and Italian brown marble in the bathroom and kitchen add character, while decorative eco-friendly plaster and textured natural wood flooring envelop the space. This respect for nature aligns the apartment with an Eco-chic design ethos.

The natural color scheme includes calm, soft shades, warm walls, natural oak floors, and flax-toned furniture. The aim was to create a soft, tranquil atmosphere with color highlights, like the yellow sofa in the guest room, that add to the space's mood.

Custom-made furniture, including the kitchen and soft furnishings, keeps the home open and airy. The lights and art were carefully selected, with most lighting being vintage finds from Italy and France. The chandelier and bedroom sconces were custom-ordered from a Thai artisan.

"For me, the real success of a project is a happy client. We've turned her dreams into reality, creating a light and airy space, and now she has her very own cozy, eco-friendly slice of Bali in Moscow," Maria admits.
