The inaccessible detached garage of a classic Los Angeles 1931 Spanish style bungalow became this family's new workspace, entertainment hub, and refuge from the city. The 380 square foot Casita de Zahn boasts 15 foot vaulted ceilings and a built in work space made entirely of walnut. The cabinetry of the kitchenette nestled in one corner has been painted a glossy coat of salmon complimenting the light blue accent wall. The backsplash as well as resort style shower in the adjacent bathroom are accented with tile by Los Angeles resident, Kelly Wearstler. A lucite bar cart is nestled next to a pull out couch beneath a Rorschach-eques painting. French doors open onto an exterior dining and lounge space with a raised garden the family uses to grow produce for a fun farm to table experience. Existing avocado and loquot trees provide a shade canopy. A flagstone pathway through ferns, camellias, and an archway of jasmine provides a private entrance and trail back to the front door of the main house.
