From Valentina Guagliardi Architetto

The property in question is located in Piedmont, Italy, and its construction dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It was built at the behest of a Ligurian family, as a country residence, and subsequently extended in 1934.
An initial inspection clearly revealed the finishes and architectural solutions that characterised the years of construction and the choice of finishes closely linked to the client's origins at the time.

There is an interesting dialogue between traditional Ligurian construction and that of the lower Piedmont region, which uses the pisé technique instead.

Some details in particular: pavilion-vaulted ceilings, floors decorated with Genoese lime-based grit, handcrafted carpentry doors, slate details.
Although this was a major renovation, which necessarily involved major interventions to allow for structural adjustment, including the total re-roofing and the internal opening of two portals, the intention was to recover and above all preserve, where possible, the building's main birth characteristics.

A true sartorial intervention, attentive to the recovery of the smallest detail.

The villa was distributed as follows, and this is how it was decided to maintain it: the entire living area is on the ground floor, with kitchen, living room and guest bathroom. On the first floor, on the other hand, we find the sleeping area consisting of the master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and private bathroom, study and a further guest room.

The stairwell, also restored of its original materials and positioned exactly in the centre of the envelope, has allowed us to maintain its pivotal functionality with vertical development, grafted in turn to mezzanine floors that have served as services.
The building has also been improved in terms of energy, through the installation of an external coat, photovoltaic system, solar thermal system and a rainwater recovery system, exploiting the existing well and creating an irrigation system for the garden.

The electrical system and heating system, on the other hand, are remotely controlled.
