Modernized Ranch
An overall philosophy was established whereby the home’s original roots would be retained, a general air of relaxation would prevail, a definite relationship to the exterior would be celebrated and a gentle nod to Texas hospitality encouraged.
All new eight and twelve inch wide plank oak flooring was installed in conjunction with fossilized limestone tile. A complete kitchen was designed with straight grain white oak cabinetry and CaesarStone counters. Steel columns were introduced for texture, strengthening the Texas vibe. Room openings were increased and a cut out was installed to engage the kitchen with the living area. Windows were replaced throughout with many up sized for increased visibility to the landscape and pool. All new lighting was provided, both architectural and decorative. The kitchen ceiling was vaulted and specialized wall graze lighting was used to cast an even wash of light on the ceiling plane. Automated switching for all was provided for convenience.
The existing floor plan was completely overhauled. Bedrooms were downsized but reconfigured with new amenities to serve as guest suites. The Master suite space was reallocated to provide for a grander yet serene space with all the latest amenities and conveniences.
Much consideration was given to the daily living lifestyle details of the clients. Because the couple's waking hours differ greatly, eight foot walnut doors separate the sleeping quarters from the bath area. An automated black out shade covers the large window. A custom headboard was fabricated along with custom bedside tables. A large barn door with exquisite hardware speaks to ranch living and the overall result, evokes a casual contemporary, fun, hospitable, and slightly Texas composition.
